Meme Monday: These iconic Marvel scenes are MADE for gamers

Spiderman this, Shang Chi that. Throw in a little Doctor Strange and the Eternals. At this point, are we even surprised at how many Marvel shows there are? Fans had a collective mind-blowing experience last week when the Spiderman: No Way Home trailer (both 144p and HD ones) dropped. If that wasn’t enough, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is out in cinemas.

So obviously for Meme Monday, we had to collect Marvel memes like the Infinity Stones to bask in the spirit of our favourite cinematic universe (sorry, DC).

1. Shirts are overrated

You know what? We’re all for flaunting those killer abs. Akshan, Rakan, Sett and anyone else who are happy with wearing just a cape – go for it. But we have to ask, are the designers at Riot Games running out of ideas or are they simply giving us players the eye candy we deserve?

2. Not my underwear fighting for its life

Fresh undies can wait. How else will I be able to buy the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S to play the Dead Space remake? Jokes aside, please do yourself a favour and get some new underwear if you have to.

3. Our parents never watched the TV anyway

Game Boys that came before the Advance SP ran on good ol’ batteries that always seemed to drain so quickly. Back then, the TV remote was our sacrificial lamb. Faint red power light on the Game Boy? Sorry, no one’s using the remote tonight because my Pokemon save is more important than your drama series.

4. Muscle memory is awesome

It’s just like riding a bicycle. If you can successfully execute that 360 no scope at 25 after last playing the game 5 years ago, then you’re a certified GAMER. We kid, it was just luck. But seriously, kudos to you if you don’t need the beginner’s tutorial again.

5. I miss lessons with Mr Kratos

Ares is not the God of War, Kratos is. I said what I said. Apart from that, you’ll probably score full marks in a Greek mythology test. But now that the latest line of games have entered Norse mythology, it’s time for a new lesson kids.

Meme Monday: Gamers, roar with laughter with these Chinese New Year memes

If the constant blasting of Chinese New Year (CNY) music in public spaces hasn’t told you already, the Year of the Tiger is here! Sorry gamers, time to log off and visit relatives (or not, COVID-19’s STILL a thing.) Here are some CNY gaming memes to laugh at when you need an escape from all your relatives’ incessant questioning. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Meme Monday: You’ve seen the Spider-Verse, now get ready for the Riot-Verse

It’s only midway through January and Riot is already treating us well with the release of two new characters: Neon from Valorant and Zeri from League of Legends (LOL). Even better, Neon is canonically Filipino, a huge win for Southeast Asian gamers! But we, like the rest of the internet, are seeing double – Neon and Zeri are practically the same person. Case in point: They are voiced by the same Filipino voice actress, have very similar abilities and look basically identical. We can’t help but think that Riot is trying to hint at something…a Riot multiverse, perhaps? It won’t be too far-fetched, since crossovers between both games have happened and Valorant’s storyline literally revolves around a second Earth from another universe. Alright, that’s enough speculation. This Meme Monday, we bring you PROOF of the Riot-Verse. Well, kinda.

Behold the multiverse theory! Neon and Zeri: one and the same?

The term ‘multiverse’ has been thrown left and right a lot lately. It’s been the talk of the town. While most have heard about this from the ever-growing Marvel franchise, gamers have noticed a similar happening in the esports scene.
