Sumail Poised for Southeast Asia Move as Nigma Galaxy Reportedly Sets Sights on Mikoto

In a surprising turn of events, Nigma Galaxy is reportedly poised for a major overhaul in its Dota 2 roster ahead of the highly anticipated 2024 season, setting their sights on a standout player from the fiercely competitive Southeast Asian scene. However, the potential shake-up looms as a potential farewell for their star player, Syed “Sumail” Sumail Hassan, casting an air of uncertainty over his future with the team.

The Saudi-based esports juggernaut recently dropped a bombshell, announcing the departure of key figures from its Dota 2 lineup, including Yuma “Yuma” Langlet, Kasra “Mikey” Mesbah, and Ivan “Mind_ContRoL” Ivanov. To add to the roster reshuffling, the organization disclosed that Maroun “GH” Merhej would be taking an indefinite hiatus from competition to focus on his family.

As it stands, the sole stalwart in the Nigma Galaxy lineup is their captain, Kuro “Kuroky” Salehi. While the squad is gearing up for the return of seasoned veteran Amer “Miracle” Al-Barkawi, the looming question remains: Is there a place for Sumail? The Pakistani sensation concluded his loan stint with Team Aster last month, falling short in his bid to secure a spot at The International 12.

Sumail finds himself in a state of limbo, with no definitive word on his standing within Nigma. Rumors abound that a new face may soon replace him. Speculation within the Dota 2 competitive circles suggests that Nigma is actively courting former Talon Esports standout Rafli “Mikoto” Rahman to assume the carry role previously held by Sumail.

This potential move isn’t entirely unexpected, given Mikoto’s previous stint as a stand-in for Nigma in 2021. As one of the premier free transfer talents presently available, Nigma is undoubtedly keen on thwarting rival teams eager to secure Mikoto’s signature.

Amidst uncertainty, Sumail appears unwilling to bide his time indefinitely for a decision from Nigma. Renowned Russian Dota 2 caster Vladimir “Maelstorm” Kuzminov teased that Sumail is presently immersed in Southeast Asian pub matches and is rumored to be on the cusp of joining Bleed Esports in Singapore. Moreover, there’s a tantalizing prospect of him either teaming up or competing against his elder sibling, Yawar “Yawar” Hassan.

The position 3 slot in the Bleed Esports lineup has been a hot topic in recent months. Following a somewhat lackluster showing in 2023, the Singaporean squad purportedly harbors dissatisfaction with the performances of Natthaphon “Masaros” Ouanphakdee. Plans are reportedly in motion to effectuate a change promptly, aligning with the criteria set forth by their head coach, Rasmus “Misery” Filipsen.
