M Series World Champion Zeys Signals Shift to Honor of Kings

After an extended hiatus from the esports limelight, the illustrious former coach of Evos Esports’ MLBB team, Bjorn “Zeys” Ong, has recently hinted at a comeback, setting his sights on the burgeoning Honor of Kings esports arena.

In a recent update on his X account, Zeys has announced his search for professional Honor of Kings (HoK) players, extending a direct invitation for interested individuals to submit their resumes directly to him.

However, amidst the buzz of his return, Zeys has left some key details up in the air. It’s still unclear if he’s putting together a new team to rejoin the competition or planning to acquire a stack and lead this brand-new team as the head coach.

The mobile MOBA community in Southeast Asia has become very curious after this disclosure, especially in Indonesia, where Zeys has established a sizable fan base. His fervent desire to once again take the reins of the Blue Tiger has sparked speculation about a potential return to Indonesia. Others speculate a leap to the fiercely competitive Chinese arena, lured by the allure of HoK’s vibrant esports scene.

Regardless of the potential outcome, Zeys’ “return” to the HoK esports scene would be a huge boost for its esports scene, especially considering his background as a former pro player. For those unfamiliar, Zeys was a prominent figure in the competitive Arena of Valor SEA (the global counterpart to HoK) from 2017 until mid-2019, where he left an indelible mark through his participation in numerous prestigious global tournaments.

Unfortunately, AoV’s lackluster publishing efforts caused its popularity to decline, which led Zeys to jump to the MLBB esports circuit and eventually went to Evos Legends as the head coach in 2019. While initially grappling with the transition, Zeys’ wealth of experience garnered from his time in AoV proved invaluable as it gave him insight to improve Evos Legends and took the team to a historical run, winning the MPL ID S4 and inaugural M-Series title in Malaysia in the same year.

Zeys joins a notable cohort of MLBB SEA esports luminaries diving into the burgeoning HoK esports arena. Before him, executives representing powerhouse MPL ID teams like Bigetron Esports, Evos, and RRQ gathered at a special summit, deliberating HoK’s esports trajectory. Soon after, these teams started actively looking for professional HoK players all over the SEA region.
