Honkai Star Rail — Which Paths Should You Pick In The Simulated Universe?

With over 20 million active players, there is no doubt many have attempted Herta’s Simulated Universe—and lost miserably at least a couple of times.

The rogue-like combat challenge is an aspect of the game that definitely has a good chunk of players scratching their heads especially when they’ve reached the later worlds.

It may be a surprise to few but the key to defeating the Simulated Universe’s enemies lies heavily on the Path you choose at the very beginning. Even with an average team level lower than what the game recommends, selecting the right Path (and getting lucky with the Blessings handed to you) is foolproof to getting your weekly rewards from Herta.

World 1-3

The first three worlds are not as Path-reliant as the next three so ultimately you should focus on having a decently-built team that’s compatible with the enemy weaknesses.

There are two Paths in particular that stand out as the most useful though:

The Preservation

With March 7th being a starting character who can provide decent shields, the Path of Preservation becomes one of the safest choices as it keeps your team alive whilst buffing attacks based on the active shields you have.

If you’re lucky enough to have Gepard, the usefulness of this choice grows exponentially thanks to his ability to provide chunky shields to the entire team with his Ultimate.

The Hunt

A solid choice as long as your team has a dedicated DPS with relatively high ATK, a healer and preferably a shielder—a combo that isn’t too hard for even FTP players to achieve with characters like Dan Heng, Natasha, March 7th and Preservation Trailblazer being readily available.

You should even have a much easier time with this Path if you’ve gotten 5-star characters like Seele, Bailu and Gepard.

World 4

Recommended Path: The Nihility

As long as you bring decently-built characters who specialise in dealing DoT (some FTP-friendly options being Serval, Asta and Preservation Trailblazer) and are lucky enough to be afforded many Nihility Blessings, you should not have too much trouble clearing World 4.

World 5

Recommended Path: The Abundance

Unless, for some reason, you have an overly-built team, you’re probably doomed to fail during your first run since you won’t have access to The Abundance Path until after you defeat the first enemy in World 5.

To defeat the final boss Kafka, it’s highly recommended you choose Resonance Formation: Anicca as it removes all debuffs from your team and applies one stack of Subduing Evils (a stackable effect that resists a debuff once and restores HP) for one turn.

The debuff removal is extremely crucial since Kafka’s notorious for her ability to Dominate a single character on your team and then Advance forward their action to immediately attack a random ally. Activating the Path Resonance after your character has been Dominated will clear them of the debuff and free them from Kafka’s clutches.

World 6

Recommended Path: The Abundance (again)

It is frankly the most cracked Path available. If you get lucky with your Blessings and manage to unlock two Resonance Formations, it is recommended to choose Resonance Formation: Anatta and Resonance Formation: Anicca.

The former basically adds Path Resonance for the Abundance to the action order after you manually trigger it the first time, though it reduces the Outgoing Healing by 30%—this combined with Resonance Formation: Anicca’s debuffing effect—will definitely make your odds of clearing World 6 pretty high.

As much as strategy plays a huge role in clearing Herta’s Simulated Universe, it must be said that luck and time also contribute greatly. Losing is certainly a part of the experience so don’t be afraid to take your time replaying Worlds and unlocking boosts and Mechanisms in the Ability Tree.
