MPL ID Season 11 Final Week Highlights

Indonesia’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League (MPL) Season 11 regular season has come to an end, and it was full of surprises, especially during the final week. Several teams that were expected to be eliminated ended up with upper bracket slots, and the battle for the second through fourth place was intense. Here are some highlights from the final week:

1. Bigetron climbed all the way to #3 in the final week

Bigetron Alpha successfully turned their season around by making some crucial changes, including switching positions between their head coach and analyst. These changes led to their successive victories against Rebellion, Geek Slate, and Alter Ego, securing a top-three finish. In the final match dubbed as “Derby Sarung,” Bigetron defeated Alter Ego with a 2-0 victory, thanks to the impressive game of the roamer Hengky “Kyy” Kurniawan, who set a new record in MPL ID: getting 100% win rates with Atlas.

2.Aura Fire vs RRQ Hoshi continued as closed games

The match between Aura Fire and RRQ Hoshi was postponed due to an audio malfunction from RRQ, which eventually led to RRQ securing second place with a 2-1 reverse sweep in the follow-up match played behind closed doors. The results of these games had little to no impact on either team’s prospects of making the playoffs.

3.Geek Slate ended with the highest stats in MPL ID S11 after Onic

Geek Slate secured the final ticket for the upper bracket by finishing fourth with crucial victories over RRQ and Aura Fire. The team’s captain, Allen “Baloyskie” Jedric Baloy, led his team to thrive in almost all of the second-leg games. Geek Slate’s performance surpassed that of seasoned teams like RRQ and Evos, demonstrating their determination to claim the top seed in the upper bracket.

4.Branz Saved Evos’ lower bracket chances

Hailed as one of the legendary teams in MPL ID, Evos Legends was mostly abysmal ahead of their final week of MPL ID S11. Even though they had occupied the top three positions earlier, they failed to maintain their consistency and were knocked out by Geek and Bigetron, who finished behind them in the past two weeks. Unexpectedly, in the second leg, which took place in weeks four and five, Alter Ego and Geek Slate avenged their loss to Evos.

Jabran “Branz” Wiloko was their only saving grace that prevented them from a repeat of their embarrassing S10 season, where Evos failed to qualify for the MPL ID playoffs for the first time. Against Bigetron and Aura Fire in week 5 and week 6, Branz pulled some impressive plays just like in week 1. Apart from that, Evos was lucky as they only lost against Onic on the last day of week 6, which didn’t affect their playoff chances.

5.MPL ID S11 Grand Final ticket sold out before the end of regular season

Indonesia once again broke the esports ticket sales record, thanks to massive supports from their MLBB fans. The MPL ID’s organiser announced on its official Instagram account that tickets for MPL ID S11 grand finals had sold out in just five minutes, right before the final game of week 6.

This achievement surpassed the M4 grand finals in Jakarta last January, which sold out within six hours of the official sales website going live. This number is particularly impressive given that the playoffs will occur during Ramadhan, which was believed to reduce offline viewers engagement in Indonesia.

The playoff will be played through April 5 to 9 in Jiexpo, North Jakarta.
