Thrilling Conclusions in MPL ID S12 First Leg: Onic Esports and Team RRQ Lead the Pack

The first leg of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League Season 12 tournament concluded with a fierce contest between Onic Esports and Team RRQ,who are currently ranked first and second by a narrow margin of points.

Last Friday, the yellow hedgehog army finished the first half of the season with a resounding victory over the new sensation, Bigetron Alpha. Despite widespread doubts owing to a downturn in form last week, the reigning champs dominated them without breaking a sweat. Gilang “Sanz” and Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol were unplayable on that day.

In game 1, they stopped Bigetron from progressing and controlled the map after the sixth minute. Despite Bigetron’s efforts to halt Kairi, they were powerless to stop Sanz’s aggressive Faramis play, which sealed the victory for Onic with 16-3 in under 11 minutes. Bigetron then tried to surprise Onic with a unique draft decision in game 2, but it did little to stop them from dominating the game, as they were destroyed by Calvin “CW” Winata’s fury, who scored 90% of their kills in that round.

The identical outcome was achieved by their domestic rival, Team RRQ, who overcame newcomer Dewa United yesterday. Even though DU had their moment when they defeated the duo of Schevenko “Skylar” Tendean and Min “Naomi” Ko, they failed to foresee the movement of RRQ’s new recruit, Ferdyansyah “Ferxiic” Kamaruddin, who assisted his team during vital teamfights. RRQ eventually won their last game of this first leg despite facing little problem in the early games.

Both teams finished the first half of the season with 6 victories and 2 defeats, with Onic at the top due to a larger overall number of kills throughout those four weeks. Meanwhile, Bigetron Alpha and Evos Legends, who are now third and fourth, still have a chance to catch up to the two of them in the remaining rounds.

Outside of the top four, Geek Fam and Alter Ego have finally broken of their losing streak and finished the first leg of the season with three victories. Dewa United, who had been expected to be a big surprise of the year, is showing signs of decline and now at the bottom of the ranks.
