RRQ to Compete in MDL Philippines Next Season with RRQ Philippines

The king of kings is on a mission.

Indonesia’s RRQ squad is expanding into the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports scene in the Philippines. The team has announced their plan to build a new squad, RRQ Philippines, to compete in the second season of the MLBB Development League Philippines (MDL PH).

A few weeks ago, RRQ’s official Instagram account stated that they were seeking analysts and trainers who can reside in the Philippines. This sparked rumors that the team might enter the MLBB national competition. Yesterday, the rumor was confirmed when the team announced on Instagram that they will hold trials for their new MLBB division.

The primary prerequisites for players are to have experience in local competitions in the Philippines, a mythic rank of 1500 points in Season 27, and be at least 16 years old.

According to Andrian “AP” Pauline, the CEO of RRQ, the main objective is to compete in the MDL Philippines Season 2. He said that his new team would have to go through qualifiers before being able to join the official competition, similar to Indonesia.

The decision to expand into the Philippines comes as a surprise as AP stated last year that he had no plans to open an MLBB division in the Philippines to complement their existing Valorant and PUBG Mobile teams.

However, he acknowledged a few weeks ago that the potential of young players in the Philippines MLBB tournament piqued his interest in establishing a new division.

“RRQ will most likely compete in MDL PH next season,” said AP on Instagram. “What’s the reason behind it? There are many excellent young prospects in Philippines. We should learn from the region. Transfer of knowledge, perhaps.”

RRQ Philippines will become RRQ’s second overseas MLBB team after RRQ Akira in the MPL Brazil. Considering their professional history in local and international MLBB tournaments, they have the potential to become the next Indonesian team to make it big in the Philippines.

At the moment, Echo Philippines is the most successful overseas MLBB team from Indonesia. The team, formerly known as Aura Philippines, won the M4 in January 2023 and is now one of the favorites to win the MPL Philippines Season 11.

With the announcement of RRQ Philippines, fans are eagerly anticipating the team’s performance in the upcoming MDL PH season. The trials for RRQ Philippines are ongoing, and the team is expected to finalize its roster soon.
