Iceland is about to turn hot and heavy on esports, with not one but two of Riot’s AAA rated games, Valorant and League of Legends (LOL).
The American-based game developer will hold their tournaments at Laugardalshöll indoor sporting arena, Rekjavik, Iceland. With 2 of Riot’s largest games in one premise, could this be the start of Riot Games’ equivalent to Blizzcon? Perhaps a Riotcon?
In honour of the ongoing Mid-Season Invitations (MSI) 2021 for LOL and the upcoming Valorant Champions Tour Masters (VCT Masters) 2021, here are our top 4 speculation and hopes about this hypothetical “Riotcon”.
- A closer look at the Arcane animated series
The upcoming animated series will finally bring the lore of League to Legends to life in the latter half of the year. The series has already led to fans curious to see if it lives up to the recently released DOTA 2 animated series “Dragon’s blood”. Despite recently dropping a teaser, a closer peek at the series would definitely be a dream come true.
- Details on Ruined King
The story-driven, turn-based role-playing combat game has been in development since 2019 and is set to finally be released this year. Building upon the already rich lore of champions like Ahri and Pyke, the game sets out to expand upon the world of Runeterra. The game is long overdue for another teaser, with the last trailer released way back in December 2020, during The Game Awards 2020.
- Potential panels
Compared to Blizzard, Riot Games doesn’t have as many panels that discuss the games with fans. However, with the stunt they pulled during their 10th anniversary, Riot could still host virtual panels like “Riot Pls” to allow better communication and rapport with fans. And if there’s one thing that Riot does well, it’s transparency in communication with their players. After their initial update during the start of the year, it should be high time for yet another one headed our way covering their various titles.

LOL has had its fair share of musical talents, from K-pop-inspired girl groups like K/DA to heavy rock metal bands like Pentakill. The music for Pentakill was even so successful that it breached the Billboard top 40 and reached number 1 on the iTunes metal charts. While this one may be a long shot, one can only hope that there would be an announcement of another earworm ready to infest our ears and our brains.
