Alter Ego’s Rekt Acknowledges the Impact of Filipino in Indonesian MLBB Competition

Gustian “Rekt,” an experienced player from the Alter Ego team, recently expressed his views on the perspective of the MLBB community in Philippines regarding the impact of their players in Indonesia. He concurred that the achievements of two Indonesian teams this season, Onic Esports and Geek Fam, were largely credited to the participation of Filipino players rather than the Indonesians themselves.

During this season’s MPL ID, both Onic Esports and Geek Fam set new records and gained acclaim for the exceptional performances of Filipino players such as Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol and Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy. Their victories secured their position as representatives of Indonesia in the upcoming M5 competition scheduled to take place in Philippines next December.

This ignited a debate within the Filipino MLBB community, involving several renowned pro players in the country, who believed that the success of Indonesian teams was heavily influenced by their Filipino imports. The discussion intensified when Johnmar “OHMYV33NUS” Villaluna, the icon of Blacklist International, mentioned in his podcast that Indonesia should show its quality without the aid of Filipino players in the upcoming M5.

Following this, most of the Indonesian MLBB community and some professional players in the MPL ID, including Filipino players in Indonesia, responded by emphasizing the significance of strong teamwork for winning the competition. Nevertheless, some professionals concurred with the viewpoint that the current strength of Indonesian teams could be attributed to the presence of Filipino imports, including Rekt, who is currently a part of Alter Ego.

In his recent live streaming session, a viewer asked for his response to the Filipino MLBB community regarding the ongoing debates, to which he answered that he acknowledged the validity of their claim, citing the dominance of the region in most MLBB competitions.

“I don’t know how to respond to it, but that’s a fact. Was he (V33NUS) speaking the truth? I do think so. I mean, both of the teams qualifying for M5 have Filipino personnel. What he said does make sense. Although their squad (Onic Esports) is mostly Indonesian, four Indonesian players, the coach and their jungler are Filipinos. The Philippines also won the last SEA Games, didn’t they?” he stated during the livestream.

This response certainly came as a surprise, considering that the former captain of Evos Legends was known for his competitive stance against other regions, even openly expressing his reluctance to play alongside players from outside Indonesia during his tenure with the team.
