SEA Tiger No More: Evos Glory’s Bad Streak Raises Question About Winning Mentality

The Blue Tiger is slowly losing its stripes. Evos Glory, which once hailed as a titan in the Southeast Asian Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Pro League circuit, finds itself grappling with an unexpected slump in the ongoing MPL ID season, sending the team to depths previously unimaginable.

In the second week of MPL ID S13 regular season, the competitive landscape has been electrifying with standout displays from teams such as Bigetron Alpha, Alter Ego, and Dewa United. Their remarkable surge in form following a subdued preseason has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of fans and pundits alike.

However, amid the brilliance of these rising stars, the saga of Evos Glory unfolds as a contrasting narrative. The former powerhouse of SEA finds itself mired in a struggle, grappling with challenges that have sparked extensive discussions across social media platforms.

Months ago, the arrival of renowned head coach John “Theo” Eusebio from RSG Philippines and former Blacklist International prodigy Jon “Super Red” Bordeos sparked significant anticipation from media, bringing Evos at the center of attention in the Indonesian MLBB community. To Evos fams, this signaled a potential resurgence, a chance for redemption in Season 13.

Yet, as the weeks progressed, Evos Glory faced mounting criticism from MPL ID viewers, who lamented its disappointing results. Having failed to secure a single victory in its initial three series, the seasoned squad finds itself languishing at the bottom of the standings.

In dire need of change

While the regular season of MPL ID S13 still far from over, Evos’ early string of defeats marks its poorest start in MPL ID history. Matchweek 1 saw successive heavy losses, with Evos faltering against Alter Ego and Bigetron Alpha, failing to make any significant impact on both series. Despite subsequent evaluations, the team struggles persisted in matchweek 2, suffering a resounding defeat against Aura Fire.

As a dire need for change looms, Evos faces the challenge of reigniting its former glory. With the departure of Darrel “Tazz” Wijaya, who now dons the colors of Alter Ego, Evos Glory must rely on seasoned veterans scattered who are now playing in Evos Icon and Evos Holy separately. Among them, players like Dalvin “Hijumee” Putra, Regi “Fluffy” Marviola, and Rizqi “Saykots” Iskandar are badly needed to strengthen the lineup in Glory team.

Tonight, Evos Glory squares off against Geek Fam in the concluding match of matchday two, week 2 of MPL ID S13. Both teams, grappling with post-personnel change struggles since January, seek redemption on the battlefield, hungry for their first taste of victory.
