Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 4 has arrived and is taking the gaming community by storm. With its all-new updates and improvements, including the first use of Unreal Engine 5.1, excitement about Fortnite is at an all-time high.

With the drop of Chapter 4 comes a brand new island for players to enjoy. This realm is replete with interesting new locations to explore, like Anvil Square, The Citadel, Brutal Bastion and more.

With this update also comes a fresh offering of weapons to use, like the Ex-Caliber Rifle which fires explosive blades that can be detonated, and the Thunder Shotgun which deals great damage to opponents and shoots two rounds simultaneously.

Players can also enjoy unlocking new characters while gallivanting around, such as monster hunter Geralt of Rivia from the popular game franchise and Netflix adaptation series The Witcher.

Now, we have to talk about the introduction of Unreal Engine 5.1. With this engine, the game’s crisp graphics and new features specific to 5.1 make it unlike other games on the market. Unreal Engine 5.1 sets Chapter 4 apart with several features, including Lumen which creates real-time global illumination at 60 frames per second. Interior spaces will have bounce lighting, making the gaming experience all the more immersive.

If you compare the above images to those from Chapter 3, it’s clear that there’s been an upgrade. The visuals from Chapter 3 are immediately less striking, while Chapter 4’s graphics can definitely be described as lush.

Other advanced features include Nanite, which creates incredibly detailed architecture and nature, Virtual Shadow Maps which add shadows to little details and Temporal Super Resolution which allows for high resolution at a high frame rate.

Reactions from the gaming community have been overwhelmingly positive, with fans (and then some) eager and excited.

Also, thanks to Unreal Engine 5.1, Fortnite Chapter 4 is available to play on PC and consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

It seems that Epic Games is really putting in the effort to evolve Fortnite into what it envisions for the future. No matter what your thoughts on Fortnite are, you have to commend them for that. The same can’t be said of many games out there.
