MPL PH S13 Week 4: Onic PH Takes Down Global Powerhouses, Extending Its Winning Streak

The recently wrapped-up fourth week of the MLBB Professional League Philippines Season 13 delivered a thrilling array of matchups, with underdog squad Onic PH stealing the spotlight by doing the impossible: taking down AP Bren and Echo, in a two-day spree.

The first giant killing happened on Saturday (4/13), as the resolute Onic squad handed Bren its first loss of the season in a resounding fashion. Fresh off its stunning takedown of perennial powerhouse Blacklist International the previous week, Onic’s performance left neutral fans anticipating another upset, and the team did not disappoint.

In a tactical masterstroke, Onic crafted a heavy crowd-control composition in Game 1, effectively neutralizing Bren’s strengths. Spearheaded by the brilliance of King “K1NGKONG” Perez and Grant “Kelra” Pillas, Onic dominated the battlefield, relentlessly pressuring Bren and isolating key players like Michael “KyleTzy” Sayson and Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel. Eventually, Onic secured a decisive victory in just 13 minutes and 33 seconds, with a commanding score of 13-3.

Recognizing its missteps, Bren elevated its aggression and adjusted strategy for Game 2. The ensuing clash saw both teams fiercely contesting points, with Bren holding a slight advantage into the mid-game. However, Onic swiftly turned the tables, as K1NGKONG disrupted Bren’s formation during a critical Lord fight at the 14th minute, resulting in a steal by Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez for Onic PH. Kelra capitalized on the momentum shift, leading Onic to clinch victory in the 15th minute.

The following day, Onic sought redemption against Echo in a rematch. In a dramatic turn of events, Onic avenged its earlier defeat by Echo in the opening week, mirroring the scoreline to claim victory.

Game 1 unfolded with both teams delivering impressive performances, trading blows in the early stages. Despite Echo’s initial advantage, Onic rallied under Kelra’s leadership, seizing control and securing victory in the 23rd minute. The intensity carried over into Game 2, with Echo leveling the playing field in the early stages. Yet, Kelra rallied Onic once more, turning the tide with a pivotal team fight victory around the 13th minute, ultimately securing the series.

Beyond Onic’s triumphs, Saturday’s matchups saw Minana Evos securing a convincing victory over Echo, while RSG PH extended the winning streak by defeating Blacklist International and Omega Esports on consecutive days.

With these results, Onic PH claims the summit of the MPL PH S13 standings, edging out Bren by a single point. Meanwhile, the battle for supremacy between Echo, RSG PH, and Minana Evos promises to intensify in the coming match week, as the narrow gap between the contenders fuels anticipation for thrilling encounters ahead.
