Onic Esports Dethrone The King of MPL Indonesia, Seizes The Third Title in MPL ID Season 10

The Mobile Legends Professional League Indonesia (MPL ID) Season 10 tournament concluded last Sunday with Onic Esports’ 4-1 victory over RRQ Hoshi. Their grand finale meeting, dubbed as “The Royal Bestie”, ended with a surprise.

The fans were skeptical about Onic Esports’ prospects of qualifying for the grand final following their games against the reigning champion. They were defeated 3-1 by RRQ Hoshi in the upper bracket games and had to play Aura Fire, who were doing pretty well in the lower bracket at that time.

Onic Esports, however, defeated Aura Fire 3-0. They were crowned lower bracket champions and continued where they left off: to settle the score against the king.

Coming back with the blast

Onic fans were hopeful about their chance in the Grand Finals. Despite what happened during their previous matches against RRQ in the upper bracket round. Many hoped that Kairi’s top form would help the team to seal the deal against RRQ.

And Kairi did deliver.

There was no sign of struggle in game one, as Kairi and company wiped off the entire RRQ players in a flash. The Filipino starboy’s Ling wreaked havoc accross the Land of Dawn and scored a clean sheet against RRQ.

RRQ did not go down without a fight, however. The king of MPL Indonesia responded by equalizing in the second game. This time it was Clayyy who scored a clean sheet using Valentina. Together with Vyn and R7, the trio brought RRQ to victory in the second game in less than 14 minutes.

RRQ’s intensity, however, came to an end sooner than expected. They were unable to capitalize on their strong pressure in the game two. Despite their good drafts, Onic got back on their feet really quick and dominated, once again.

It was the same story for the third and fourth games. Kairi scored two consecutive clean sheets. He conquered the jungle on his own without any significant difficulty.

With the chance of winning is slipping right in front of their eyes, RRQ had to go all in the match point. In an aggressive move, Alberttt decided to pick Dyrroth. It was sink or swim for the reigning champions.

Onic, however, did not rush in and managed to cope against RRQ’s pressure. CW was patiently awaiting the opportunity to show his opponents the ruthless efficiency of MPL’s cheese pick, Lesley. Onic Esports prevailed in that see-saw battle and shot down RRQ in the final minute of the game, ended it 4-1. Onic Espsorts finally seized their third major title in MPL Indonesia.

Kairi’s sweet debut of the season

It was definitely a stunning start for Kairi in his debut season as Onic’s player. Nobody expected the Filipino, who was playing in the Indonesian league for the first time, to win his first ever Indonesian MPL and be named MVP in this season.

Kairi and the rest of Onic Esports, however, won’t be celebrating this victory for long. Both Onic and RRQ Hoshi, the runner up of MPL Indonesia Season 10, are currently eyeing on the grand finale: the M4 which will take place in Indonesia, in January 2023.

These Indonesian teams are definitely under pressure to win it this time. To win it in their home soil. As both teams are regarded as the greatest in Indonesia, it goes without saying that this international competition will be the ultimate test that should not be left unanswered.

And of course, it would be one amazing ride for Kairi so far, especially if he managed to conclude his debut season as world champion in January.
