In an unexpected turn of events, the MLBB Pro League Indonesia three-peat champion, Onic Esports, has made the decision to withdraw from ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2023, scheduled to take place in mid-November at Gelora Bung Karno, Central Jakarta.

A few days ago, the coaching team of Onic Esports, consisting of Paul “Yeb” Denver and Adi, solidified their choice to provide sufficient rest time for their players and indicated that they had no other schedules apart from the 5th MLBB World Championship in November. This sparked speculation among their fans, who predicted that the team would be absent from the MPLI 2023.

This speculation was recently confirmed when the Yellow Porcupines announced their withdrawal from the annual competition via social media, citing the tight schedule and insufficient preparation time between MPLI 2023 and the M5 competition.

“Onic Esports extends its heartfelt gratitude to ONE Esports, the organizer of MPL Invitational 2023, for the slot provided to us to participate in the tournament. However, considering the players’ condition, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from participating in MPLI 2023,” they stated on social media.

To fill the vacant slot, the ONE Esports management subsequently announced that they have invited the Evos Legends team to participate in this competition. The Evos team management has not yet revealed the lineup they will use for the upcoming competition.

Onic Esports’ absence from the competition has likely left their devoted fans somewhat disappointed, especially since they were eager to win every major MLBB competition available this season, and want to see them achieving another three-peat run. Previously, they had clinched consecutive MPLI victories in 2021 and 2022, defeating Blacklist International and Geek Fam in dramatic fashion.
